It is hard to believe that as of last week we have been living in this house for 2 years! I am so happy that we purchased this home and it has continued to keep me plenty busy. Last year I did an anniversary post to look at how the house has changed over the year so I thought I would do the same thing in today's post. I will start with the office. So far my biggest accomplishment in here has been my closet makeover.
Here is what I've done so far:
1. Added shelves
2. Decorated plastic storage drawers and added chalkboard style labels
3. Stenciled a corkboard that I am using to store thread and washi tape
This is the next room on my list to paint so I hope to get to that late summer or sometime in the fall.
Next up: The Kitchen. Here is how it looked a year ago:
Now it looks like this:
Here is what happened in the kitchen this year:
1. I put up a tiled backsplash using Moroccan lantern style tiles
2. I swapped out my red flour and sugar canisters for glass ones with brushed metal tops.
3. I found a patterned coral kitchen rug.
Other than the tile not a whole lot has happened in here. Other than eventually replacing the cabinet hardware this room is pretty much done.
On to the dining room. Here is what I left you with last year:
And here is the dining room now:
My biggest projects in the dining room this year was the table redo and the chair redo plus the addition of my two lovely chairs from Pier 1. This room is pretty much done as well although I would like to add some stools to the little kitchen counter that divides the kitchen and dining room and I would also like to make some extra leaves for our table. Down the road I might change out the light fixture too but we'll see.
Next up is the master bedroom. Here is what it looked like when we moved in:
Now it looks like this:
I've done a lot of work in this room this year. Here is what I've done:
1. Refinished the nightstands, armoire, and dresser
2. Painted the walls and trim
3. Put up a curtain rod
4. Bought a new bed set: It is from the Gatsby collection by Jennifer Lopez at Kohls by the way
And I still have a lot to do:
1. Finish installing the quarter round trim around the base boards
2. Make curtains.
3. Refinish the lamps
4. Refinish the little Ikea storage drawer unit on the dresser.
5. Plane the closet doors so that they can actually close
6. Paint the closet doors a dark brown or black
7. Add some wall decor
The last room that I have worked on this year is porch. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite parts of this house. Here is what it looked like in the beginning:
Here is what it looked like last year:
And here is what it looks like now:
These are the things that I have finished on the porch since last year:
1. Made curtains
2. Added a cedar chest as a coffee table
3. Made a chevron ruffle wreath
4. Made some paper flowers out of old book pages to fill my antique bottles in the center piece on the coffee table
5. Created a gallery wall which included these projects: an etched glass window frame, North Dakota wood art, Jane Austen quote subway art, decoupage sheet music art, a floral letter, and a burlap family sign.
This room is almost done. I only want to add some more pillows and some sort of storage bins for the compartments in the window seat.
If you are a regular visitor to my blog you may have notice the changes that I've made. I have decided to do a little blog refresh which will include a custom header. I'll share the details of that when I am done with it. You may have notice done part of the refresh on my after pictures. I have designed a little logo for my photos that gives a hint at the design of the header. I'll be back later this week with a post on fabric storage. See you then!
